Success Requirements
Success Requirements Introduction: 1. We all want to be a success. 2. What does it require to be successful (in church, spiritually, individually and collectively)? I. Preparation. A. No one starts on a journey of 100 miles without some preparation. B. Preparation includes: 1. Thinking ahead (Neh. 2:13, 14). 2. Making plans/dreaming (Neh. 2:16, 17). 3. Getting what needs to be used together. C. We are to prepare (Lk. 14:28). We also make preparation as we go. II. Earnestness. A. The work is pressing. We are to get involved and move forward. B. No indifference (Rev. 3:15, 16; Hag. 1:2-11). Every part supplies for another (Eph. 4:16). Christ died for a cause. There must be commitment (Lk. 9:62; 2 Cor. 5:16; Jn. 6:68, 69). III. Patience. A. Practice-growth takes time. Nothing worthwhile occurs overnight. (Rom. 12:12). B. Areas of patience: 1. Self (Eccl. 7:8). 2. Others (Col. 3:12, 13). 3. Events (Eph. 4:2). Road blocks will occur (Rom. 5:3; 1 Pet. 2:19). IV. Watchfulness. A. The importance of watchfulness B. What to watch for (1Pet. 5:8); 1 The. 5:6). V. Balance. A. Easy to lose your balance-ie. Pharisees and Sadducees. B. Keep your balance (Josh. 1:7). VI. Perseverance. A. Easy to start but difficult to stay with. B. Stay the course (Lk. 14:34, 35; Ja. 5:7, 8; Rom. 2:7).
