Introduction: 1. I have a list of places in my head that I would like to visit. They are places that I would like to see in my lifetime. However, if I don’t see them it will not really matter. 2. There is one place above all that I want to go and do not wish top miss out on-heaven. 3. I want to go to heaven because… I. Who will be there. A. God is the creator, sustainer, guide, and Father or us all Gal. 3:26; 2 Cor. 6:18). Heaven is his home (Mt. 5:45, 48; Jn. 14:1, 2). B. Jesus was light (Jn. 8:12); door (Jn. 10:7), and the resurrection and life (Jn. 11:25). He became and was (Jn. 1:29). Heaven is his home (Col. 3:1, 2; Heb. 9:24). C. Holy Spirit. He helps answer such questions as why am I here? Where am I going? He makes his home in heaven. D. Godly heroes will be there. Representing the patriarchal age will be Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham. Representing the Mosaical age will beDavid, Elisha, Gideon. Representing the Christian age will be Paul, Peter, Stephen, John. E. Friends, family, and faithful will be there. II. What will be there. A. What will not be there (Rev. 21:4). Insecurity (Mt. 6:19, 20). Separations (Mt. 25:46). Want (Rev. 7:16,17). Sin (1 Cor. 6:9-11). B. Activity (Rev. 7:15; 22:3). “Rest” (Heb. 4:9-11; Rev. 14:13)-Not an end of work but harmonious work of all individuals. C. Love and peace. D. Joy-Eternal joy (Ps. 16:11; Mt. 25:21; Rom. 8:18). E. Perfection (Rev. 21:1, 2, 16). F. Note: Eternal>You will not have to move again (1 Pet. 1:4; Mt. 6:20; Heb. 13:14). III. Because it will make all of this worth it. A. Life as it is hard. It has joys and happiness, pain and grief, etc. B. Life as a Christian (Rev. 21:7; 1 Pet. 4:12). C. Heaven gives perspective to the struggles (Job 19:25, 26; Phil. 1:19). It gives promise to our purpose (Tit. 1:2; 1 Pet. 1:3; Tit. 2:13). D. I understand the possibility (Ps. 69:27, 28).
