Don't Be Deceived
Introduction: 1. While gasoline is way to high at the present when it settles we will look back at this is a few years and think nothing about the terrible spike in prices we are experiencing this summer. 2. Sin works the same way. Satan convinces man that what once was unthinkable is now no big thing. 3. A man is deceived when he thinks… I. Sinners will be saved. A. We understand sin to be missing the mark (1 Cor. 8:12; Eph. 4:26) or a stepping over God’s line (Heb 2:2). B. Some improper and proper attitudes toward sin: champion (Prov. 17:15), minimize, mock (Prov. 14:9), inconsequential, abhor (hate) (Rom 12:9), abstain (hold off) (1 Thes. 5:22). C. But (1 Cor. 6:9-11). Remember (Rev. 21:8, 27). II. It really does not matter. A. The world professes that there are no absolutes. B. We know that there is. God called (1 Tim. 6:3, 11; Gal. 1:23). He challenges us (2 Tim. 1:13; Josh 22:5). He has specified (2 Tim. 2:22; Tit. 2:11-14). God has always had a pattern. C. Col. 2:8. III. One can just listen to the word of God. A. The Bible is God’s: 1. Light (Ps. 119:105). 2. Hammer (Jer. 23:29). 3. Law (Gal. 3:10). 4. Testimony (Ps. 119:2). B. The approach of some to the Bible: love letter, suggestion, good moral compass, fairy tale, history book. C. We are reminded (Ja. 1:21-25; 1 Tim. 6:114). Truly (Eph. 6:8; Jn. 12:26). Conclusion: Satan has deceived many to believe that they have all of the time in the world. We are all on borrowed time. Entered on 7/6/2008
