God's Great Gifts
Introduction: 1. This is a time of giving and gifts. 2. Gifts are from a heart of love as an expression of appreciation. 3. God has given us many precious gifts. I. Peace. A. The gift (Jn. 14:27; Isa. 48:18). B. A peace 1. For man (Isa. 53:5, 12; 2 Cor. 5:17-21). 2. Within man (Ps. 37:37). When faced with the fear of failure (Phil. 4:13), worries (1 Pet. 5:8), assaults from Satan (Ja. 1:12). 3. Between man (Heb. 12:14>Mt. 5:43-48). II. Hope. A. The gift (2 Thes. 2:16). B. Possession of today (1 Cor. 13:13), yet (Rom. 8:24). The promise of tomorrow (1Pet. 1:3, 4; Col. 1:5) works for us today (Heb. 6:18). III. Grace. A. Gift (Eph. 2:8-10). B. It is a product of God’s… 1. Love. Multidimensional (Eph. 3:18, 19), sacrificial (Rom. 5:8), impartial (Acts 10:34). 2. Mercy (Mt. 9:27; Lk. 16:24). 3. Divine kindness. C. Grace: sustains us (2 Cor. 12:9), delivers (1 Cor. 10:13), guides us (Jer. 10:23), comforts in sorrow (2 Cor. 1:3, 4), saves in death (2 Tim. 4:6-8), crown in heaven (Ja. 1:12). IV. Jesus. A. Gift (Jn. 3:16). B. The gift that keeps on giving. Lived without sin (1 Pet. 2:22), died for sin (1 Cor. 15:3), raised to justify our sins (Rom. 4:25). He created the world (Col. 1:16), extended hope (Jn. 11:25), and with death made eternal life available (1Jn. 4:9, 10). V. (The present that awaits) Heaven. A. The gift (Heb. 11:16). B. This gift is of eternal proportions. Made by God (Heb. 11:10). There is nothing like it (Rev. 21:2). Rest that awaits (Rev. 14:13). A place of rejoicing (Mt. 25:21). Reunion (1 Thes. 2:19, 20).
