Sex and The Bible
Introduction: 1. It is used to sell and entertain. It is talked about on T.V. and in movies. 2. It is seemingly the subject of the day every day and everywhere. 3. The subject is sex. I. Sex is good. A. The Bible is not a prudish book. We often focus on the prohibitions. (Song of Solomon 4:6f.; Proverbs 5:15-20). The sexual drive is given to man by God. B. God originated sex (Gen. 1:27, 28, 31). C. God endorsed sex (Heb 13:4a). God put sex in marriage. D. God regulated sex (1 Cor. 7:1-5). II. The devil’s twist on sex. The game plan of the devil perverted the good. A. It is o.k. outside of marriage. God condemns sexual activity outside of the bounds of marriage-fornication. (Acts 15:20; 1 Cor. 6:9-11; Gal. 5:19-21; Col. 3:5). Sex outside of marriage is a sin (Gen. 39:9) and it destroys your soul (Prov. 6:32). B. It is my body (1 Cor. 6:13, 15, 18). Our bodies are to honor God. C. It is “alright” as long as you have safe sex. III. Steps toward purity. A. Stop (1 Thes. 4:13). B. Repent (Ps. 51:17; 1 Cor. 6:9-11). A penitent sinner is a forgiven saint. C. Seek God’s forgiveness. God forgives. Accept his forgiveness. Conclusion: 1. Sex was given to man for pleasure and procreation. 2. However, outside of the marriage commitment it is sinful. 3. So it comes to a choice. The choice is yours. Entered on 3/8/2009
