Pornography And The Word Of God
Introduction:
1. It is an epidemic that is sweeping and has swept our land.
2. Readily accessible.
3. Many are affected.
I. The presence of pornography.
A. Defined as explicit sexual material intended for the purpose of sexual arousal. This would include written and pictures soft and hard core.
B. A $14 billion a year industry and $100 Billion worldwide. Each week there are 261 new movies. Today there are approximately 1.3 million websites.
C. Availability of pornography: magazines, videos, telephone, t.v., internet.
II. Effects of pornography.
A. Very addicting-enslaving. It desensitizes (Rom. 6:6, 12-22; 2 Pet. 2:14, 19.
B. Assaults the dignity and worth of women.
C. Destroys: 1. Homes/families. 2. Children. Child pornography is a $3 Billion a year industry. 87% of all child molesters are regular pornography users. 3. Lives-addicted and can not even be with their own wives.
III. The Bible and pornography.
A. Ps. 101:3.
B. Mt. 5:28. Lustful desire for the woman that he has no right to. Those who indulge in unchaste imaginations, desires and intentions. It is the persistent, cherished look.
C. Phil 4:8; Mt. 5:8; Ja. 4:8. Inward purity is what God expects of man.
D. Gal. 5:19-Lasciviousness-unbridled lust what produces lewd emotions.
E. 2 Pet. 2:14. False teachers were looking with their sinful thoughts. The Greek text has it as “having eyes full of an adultress.”
