Rich Young Fool
Introduction: 1. “I wish I had known…” “I wish I had…” 2. We need to look forward 3. Luke 12:16-21. I. He left God out of his plans. A. The man was centered upon himself. B. Man’s tendency is to go away. He forgets God’s benefits. He says God is to demanding and rigid. Examples Jer. 2:32 (1 Chron 28:9; 1 Sam. 15; 2 Chron 25:14). Results-2 Chron 24:21). C. But remember (Mt. 22:37, 38; Jn. 12:26; Ps. 119:16). As we look forward our plans must include God (Acts 5:29; Ecc. 12:13). II. He left others out of his plan. A. This man made no mention of neighbors, family, friends, poor, etc. B. We are stewards (1 Cor. 10:26). C. We need each other (Rom. 14:7). We are (Gen. 13:8). We get energy and strength from one another (Mt. 22:39; 1 Cor. 10:24; Heb. 13:16; Rom. 15:2). III. He thought his happiness was built on the here and now. He forgot eternity. A. This man’s mind was on the things of this earth. B. Today we focus on what we see, hear, feel-things of this world (Ecc. 2:1-11>5:10>12:8). This world will not last (Mt. 6:19, 20). It is the here and now that blinds us (Simon, Martha, Demas). C. But The eternal is important (1 Cor. 15:53, 54>Heb 12:2; Phil 3:13). Conclusion: His whole problem may have been verse 17.
