My Responsibility To Christ

Introduction:
1.     We have responsibilities to Christ.
2.     Are we responsible enough to take them on?

I. Confess Christ.
A.     Command (Mt. 10:32; Rom. 10:10).
B.     Confession and the first century (Jn. 12:42).
C.     Confession and the 21st century-continuous (2 Tim. 1:8-12; 1 Jn. 4:2, 15).

II. Hear Christ.
A.     Command (Mt. 17:5).
B.     Difference between hearing and listening.
C.     Because Jesus is the way (Jn. 6:45-48; Heb. 7:25).

III. Remember Christ.
A.     Command (Heb. 12:2).
B.     The brains ability to store and retrieve information.
C.     Our memory of Christ. Remember His teachings, call, pledge, burial, and resurrection.

IV. Imitate Christ.
A.     Command (1 Jn. 2:6).
B.     What does it mean to imitate Christ? You have his mind, attitude, disposition, actions.
C.     Look at his sacrifice (2 Cor. 8:9), speech (1 Pet. 2:22), submission (Jn. 5:30), suffering (Heb. 2:9, 10), He subdued temptation (Mt. 4:1-11), and stood for the truth (Mt. 5-7).

V. Serve Christ.
A.     Command (Mt. 20:26; 4:19).
B.     Christ’s service was to God (Jn. 10:17) and for others (Mt. 15:24).
C.     Christian must roll up his sleeves and get started (2 Cor. 8:5).

VI. Teach Christ.
A.     Command (Mt. 28:19).
B.     Reason (Rom. 10:14, 15). Everyone is a minister.
C.     Lord uses people to accomplish his preaching-look at the conversion stories in Acts (Pentecost, Eunuch, Jailer, etc.).
