How To Fall In Love With God
Introduction: 1. God has called upon us to give our lives to Him. 2. We see that He wants us to be wholly and completely committed to God. Yet, how do we get to that point? I. Conscious choice. We must choose God. A. God calls upon us to make a choice (Josh. 24:15; 1 Kings 18:21; Mt. 11:28; Rev. 22:17). B. In order to accomplish us we must weigh the situation. Who is God and should I listen to Him? Look in Acts 17. God is our verse 24 Creator, verse 25 giver, verse 29 Father, verse 31 judge. C. Our choice then being informed must be complete and definitive (Dt. 30:15-19). II. Commit yourself to Him. A. The choice is easy but the commitment is difficult. We must live With, live for, stand with, and die for our choice. B. Give yourself to Him (1 Peter 2:5; Rom. 12:1, 2; Jn. 6:51f.) and all that you have (Phil. 3:8). Commit yourself to Him (Lk. 14:26, 27, 30). C. This commitment is not just lip service (i.e. Gen. 29:20, 30 or Paul). It is real (Rom. 6:16, 17>2 Tim. 1:13). III. Consider what God has done for you. A. God is rich (Eph. 2:4). B. His richness toward man is seen in his pardon (Isa. 55:7), peace (Ps. 37:11), joy (2 Cor. 8:2), grace (1 Tim. 1:14), mercy (1 Pet. 1:3), deliverance (2 Pet. 2:9). Truly (Phil. 4:19). C. When I consider what I have been given how can I not love God? IV. Spend time with Him. A. Because we believe that there is a God then it only makes sense that He would want to talk to us (1 Cor. 2:11, 16; 2 Tim. 3:16). The purpose for our studying the Bible is to develop a relationship with the Lord. B. My responsibility is to: 1. Let God talk to me (Isa. 34:16; 2 Tim. 2:15; Col. 1:9). 2. Talk to God (Pray often and pray regularly). Conclusion: 1. What is your choice? Entered on 6/14/2009
