What Kind of Faith Do You Have?

Introduction:
1.      Faith is the kingpin in Christian life.
2.     Is there a difference between James and Paul?
3.     James 2:14-26 Speaks of two types of faith which is yours?

I.     Faith void of works-dead faith.
This is a faith of acceptance, intellectual faith void of action. It is…
A.      Useless (verses 15-17).
1.      A picture to behold.
2.     Faith that sits and gives lip service and does not serve others (Titus 2:7, 14).
3.     Mt. 7:21-23; Ja. 1:22-26.
B.      Can not be demonstrated (verse 18).
1.      Faith must be demonstrated.
2.     Such is true in our spiritual life (i.e. Noah, Naaman).
C.      Can not change a person.
1.      Faith itself will not make us unique.
2.     The demons acknowledged Jesus (Mk. 3:11-12; Lk. 8:30, 31).
3.     Look at Acts 26:27; 25:25.
D.      Dead.
1.      It is inactive and unproductive.
2.     Characterized by Ephesians 2:1, 5.
II.      Faith with works-active faith.
A.      Profitable (verses 14, 16).
1.      It is good and offers an advantage.
2.     When it serves other others (Gal. 6:9-10) or is related to salvation (Mt. 16:26).
B.      Alive
1.      The possibility of being productive.
2.     Told we are saved (Eph. 2:1-10). We are challenged to engage in works that benefit others and God (1 Jn. 3:17, 18).
C.      Justifies.
D.     Makes us acceptable (verse 23).
1.      Accounted/imputed-to credit to ones account.
2.     Examples.
