What I know. A. Satan is the enemy and God has given me the things that I need to know about him to defeat him. B. We are at war. Satan is real (2 Cor 10:4-5; Lk. 4:6, 13). He was created (Neh. 9:6) and then fell (1 Jn. 3:8). C. He is persistent (Lk. 4:6, 13; Mt. 12:43-45). D. He is subtle (2 Cor. 11:14, 15), shrewd, seductive (2 Cor.; 4:4). E. We are to be prepared (Eph. 6:11; 2 Cor. 2:11). II. What I have at my disposal -tools. A. God’s word. 1. Our food (1 Pet. 2:1, 2; Heb. 5:12-14). 2. Its power (Ps. 119:11; Prov. 3:23; 1 Jn. 3:9). It reproves (2 Tim. 3:16-17), instructs (Rom. 1:16, 17), guides (Ps. 119:105). Our charge is to read, assimilate and follow the truth (Ja. 1:22-25). A person that is ignorant of the scriptures is in constant danger. B. Prayer. 1. Opportunity to talk to God (Heb. 4:16). 2. We can carry our problems to God (Ps. 34:17, 18). 3. Think about the times that prayer was instrumental and important in the life of individuals in the early church. III. Who will help me. A. Friends. 1. They are given a certain responsibility (Gal. 6:1; Rom. 15:1-4). 2. They warn (Prov. 27:5, 6, 9). 3. They see us as we are. 4. They assist us (Rom. 12:15). B. Jesus Christ. 1. He overcame (Mt. 4:1-11; Heb. 4:15). 2. Look what he does for us today (Heb. 2:18). He is our High Priest, advocate. Conclusion: 2 Tim. 1:7 Entered on 1/17/2010
