Blessed Assurance
Introduction: 1. You can know you are saved. 2. The reasons why some feel that can not make such a statement. 3. The insecurity of others. 4. Because of God’s grace we have certain assurances. I. We must be in Christ. A. Look at 1 Jn. 5:11, 1, 5. B. The impact of being in Christ (Col. 1:12-14). C. Blessings that are found in Christ (Eph. 1:3-14; 2 Tim. 2:10). D. How do we get into Christ (2 Cor. 5:17; Gal. 3:26, 27). E. Our assurance (Rom. 8:1). II. We must make Christ the Lord of our life. A. Look at (1 Jn. 2:3-5; 3:24). “Abiding” means taking root in. B. Man’s life is often driven by various philosophies and lust. C. We are to enthrone Jesus (1 Pet. 1:13, 14). Put on the new man (1 Cor. 6:19, 20). D. Walk with Christ means we belong to Christ (Jn. 14:21-24; 8:31). There is safety in Jesus (1 Jn. 3:8). E. Our assurance (1 Jn. 1:7; 2:27). III. Let God’s word dwell with us. A. Look at (1 Jn. 2:14). B. There is power in God’s word (Heb. 4:15; 2 Thes. 2:14). C. It becomes part of us and it becomes us and we study it (Col. 3:16; 1 Jn. 3:9). D. How? Meditate (Ps. 119:97-100). Meditate continual thinking. E. Our assurance-with God’s word in our heart we can overcome. IV. We must walk after the example of Christ. A. Look at (1 Jn. 2:6). B. God’s expectations (Jn. 14:12; Phil 2:5; Acts 4:12). C. God’s charge (2 Cor. 4:10). D. Our assurance. God’s grace covers the child of God. Note: We have these assurances: God gave (Jn. 3:16), Jesus died (Rom. 5:6-10), God saves, God forgives (Ps. 130:4); God keeps ( 1 Pet. 1:5), God’s grace covers (Eph. 2:5). Conclusion: Paul (2 Tim. 4:7, 8); Peter (2 Pet. 3:10-13), and John (Rev. 22:20-21) all knew where they stood with God. Entered on 1/24/2010
