The Master Calls For You
Introduction: 1. The word “call” can mean summons, invite or all a person by name. You have been called by God. But to what? 2. 2 Thes. 2:14. I. Separation (2 Cor. 6:14-18). A. The world as it is (Eph. 2:1-3; Titus 3:3). B. The problem with us all (Rom. 7; Esther 8:17). C. Satan’s power. D. God has said (1 Tim. 6:11; Rev. 21:8; Eph. 5:11; Ja. 1:27). II. Sonship (1 Jn. 3:1). A. Sinners are outside of Christ (Eph. 2:13). They have their own family. B. When you become a Christian you are a part of a family. 1. Born into (Jn. 3:5) and thus added to God’s family. 2. Given a place of position (Rom. 8:15). 3. Family resemblance (Rom. 8:16; Phil. 1:27). 4. Devotion to family interest (Mt. 6:33). III. Service (Jn. 15:16). A. God can use you. Some are prone to selfishness. B. God’s expectation (Eph. 2:10; Titus 3:8). C. Look not to yourself but outside (Phil. 2:4; Mt. 20:26-28) D. We are to be people that help others: (i.e. Onesimus, Onesiphorus). E. 2 Thes.3:13. IV. Subjection. A. Man is rebellious by nature. Obedience is a choice (1 Jn. 5:3). B. God’s expectation (1 Tim 6:14; Jn. 15:14; 1 Jn. 2:29). C. I must humble myself (Phil. 2:3; 1 Cor. 3:18), trust in God-put life in His hands, give self to God (Acts 20:18, 19; Lk. 14:26).
