We Have The Divine Remedy For Sin
Introduction: 1. Man’s trash that we dump upon God is our sin. 2. Yet, God is ready to forgive our sin (Mic. 7:18, 19; 2 Pet. 3:9). 3. Look what God does with our trash. I. Remits. A. Financial term that means freedom. Pardon, absolution of a debt. B. Sin as a debt (Mt. 6:12). Failure to keep our duties. C. The promise of God (Mt. 26:28; Heb. 9:22). The guilt is gone (Acts 2:38; Heb. 10:22). D. The Christian knows (Ps. 32:1, 2). II. Redeems. A. Purchase term. It means ransom paid in full, deliverance. B. Sin is a taskmaster (Rom. 6:6). C. The promise of God (Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:13, 14; Heb. 9:12; Rev. 5:9). D. The Christian knows (Mic. 7:19). III. Reconciles. A. Repairing term. It means restoration to the divine favor. B. Sin estranges us from God (Isa. 59:1, 2)>friends, family, self, good judgment. C. The promise of God (Rom. 3:23-26; Eph. 2:13; Ja. 4:8; Col. 1:21, 22; Rom. 5:9, 10). D. The Christian knows (Ps. 51:9). IV. Renewal. He washes and cleanses. A. Terms of refreshing. B. Sin defiles (Titus 1:15; 1 Tim. 6:5). C. The promise of God(Rev. 1:5, 6; 7:14; Isa. 1:18) D. The Christian knows (Jer. 31:34; Heb. 8:12). Conclusion: 1. How to receive God’s forgiveness. Look at your relationship with God, acknowledge your failures, receive the forgiveness God extends upon the terms he extends them, and refuse to allow Satan to paralyze you with guilt. 2.
