The Lordship of Jesus
Introduction: 1. We call Him Lord. 2. Jesus is our owner, master, and ruler. 3. For Jesus to be the Lord of our life certain things must happen. I. Indoctrination. A. Meaning. To instruct in a doctrine, principle, ideology, etc. B. Importance of indoctrination. C. Christian responsibility is 1. Be a student (2 Tim. 2:15; Isa. 34:16). 2. Learn (2 Pet. 1:5). 3. Grow (2 Pet. 3:18). D. How do we accomplish? Study (Col. 4:16; 1 Thes. 5:27; 1Tim. 4:13), Meditate (Josh. 1:8; Ps. 119:97), prayer. E. When folks lose the truth they lose their way (2 Kings 22: Nehemiah (8); Rom. 10:1-3; Eph. 4:17, 18). II. Commitment. A. Understand what commitment is and is not. B. Described: 1. Die to self. 2. Letting the Lord take control. 3. Listen (2 Cor. 5:14-17; Rom. 6:16-18; 12:1, 2; 14:8; Lk. 14:25-33); 1 Pet. 2:11). C. Give self totally to the Lord-He becomes the master. I.e. Daniel. D. Attitude of Paul- “I am ready” (Rom. 1:15; 2 Cor. 12:14>2 Tim. 1:12). E. Our life (Phil. 1:20, 21; 1 Pet. 2:9). III. Involvement. A. Christians are personally involved. B. Work of the church is prayer (Acts 2:42), teach (Lk. 14:23), encourage the weak (Rom. 15:1, 2), encourage others (Heb. 10:24), help the less fortunate (Mt. 25:31f. Gal. 5:13), worship. C.
