Let The Gospel Roll On
Let The Gospel Roll On Introduction: 1. There are many things which attempt to hinder the carrying of the message of God to others. We should never be one of those hindrances. 2. We should make sure that the truth rolls on. 3. Philippians 1:12-18. I. Christ is to be preached. A. Paul continued to preach despite where he was and what was going on around him. What is to be preached? Incarnation (Phil. 2:5-11), life (Acts 10:38), death (1 Pet. 2:24), burial (1 Cor. 15:4), resurrection (Lk. 24:1-12), ascension (Acts 1:9-11), second coming (1 Thes. 4:13f.). B. Nothing should stop the progress of the gospel. Not…1.Persecution (Jn. 16:2), 2. People (1 Cor. 16:9), 3. Problems. C. Paul looked on his chains as pushers. D. My responsibility: 1. Remove excuses (Mk. 16:15), 2. Remove obstacles, 3. Preach Christ (1 Thes. 2:4; 1 Cor. 2:1f.; 2 Cor. 4:7). II. Preaching about Christ is to be our passion. A. Paul’s problem. He was in chains, he had his critics. B. Christians have a responsibility. Teach –speak (Rom. 1:15; 10:14; 2 Tim. 2:2; Acts 5:20; 8:4; 5:42). C. Can God use you? He used Moses’ rod, Shamgar’s ox goad, Dorcas’ needle and thread. Despite problems Paul, Peter, Moses, Matthew etc. were used by God. D. Our passion should be to talk about Christ. III. Protect the gospel. A. “Set”-appointed>destined. He felt the providence of God had appointed him to this task. B. The gospel is not defenseless. C. My responsibility is to defend the truth (Jude 3; 1 Pet. 3:15). We are to defend its inspiration/sufficiency (2 Tim. 3:16, 17), singularity (Gal. 1:6-9), purpose and power (Rom. 1:16; Ja. 1:21; Acts 11:14), authority and finality (Jn. 16:13). Conclusion: We are to be sure that the gospel rolls on. Because of His Grace Entered on 5/2/2010
